“Yay! Obama wins! He's much better than McCain!”, exclaimed a strangely delighted K.S.Priya, a student of some random college somewhere, doubtless drawing from her rich and deep research on the political histories of both candidates. “Now, things will surely get better for India. Obama will see to that.”, said a smug-looking Mathew Kurian (or something like that), forgetting that Mr.Obama has been elected president of the United States, and not of India. “Hooray, it's great to have him as President! He looks just like Lewis Hamilton!”, grinned an excited Sankalesh Jimmy, pointing out one of Mr.Obama's lesser known strong points.
Apparently, Mr.Obama's huge popularity in India stems from his nice smile, pleasant looks, and his general dissimilarity to George W.Bush. “Foreign Policy? Plan for the economy? Worldview? Who cares? He's not white, we're not white, so he's on our side!”, said a surprisingly honest young woman (since we stopped caring about names about a paragraph ago).
However, the celebrations are certainly not unanimous. “McCain should have won. Now outsourcing will get pwned.”, said a worried looking BPO employee, reading from his process manual. “Obama's all talk. McCain is the real deal. I supported McCain.”, said another muscular young gent, looking around to see if anyone (especially women) started perceiving him as 'cool', 'different' and 'independent minded'.
Things are expected to return to normal within a few days, when people eventually tire of pretending to be informed about international politics and return to watching boneheaded celebrities making fools of themselves on television.

Respect. Complete and absolute respect.
*resounding applause*
hehe.. exactly my views.. i know some people who keep refreshing their google news page every fifteen minutes (gajini effect) to see if something new regarding election has popped up!
Seriously - Obama-ngravan yaaru? ava appa yaaru? amma yaaru? avan kolam enna? gothram enna?
blogeswari - hahaha Charuhaasan is teh_pWnz00rrzz. Elder brother of Grand!
i have a doubt..
did you guys write this post expecting obama's win, or did you begin to write this after the results were out?
coz it's too good to have been written in such short time.
you guys rock!
Ah, but there are also Indians, like me, who are delighted with Obama's win *and* are accquainted with his policies. Like his 16 month pullout timetable for Iraq, his idea to have targeted taxes and remove the tax breaks bush had given to the 250000$+ people, and his commitment to scientific reserach (unlike, mccain and palin). He's also not against abortion.
If only our countries politicans could take a leaf out of the US book, and not give out free TV's to everyone for votes.
priya - if we were THAT well planned, this blog would be updated far more often than it is now.
So we must be brilliant ;)Or lucky!
Anonymous - What would people in our country do with leaves pulled out of American books ? We MUCH prefer TVs!! ;)
Wait a nimit. I thought Bosey was about satire. This article is the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth. That's journalism.
And you thought this transgression would escape our keen eyes, knaves!
Mokkai - Truth is journalism? Try telling that to our TV channels!!
So true...We Indians have something to say on everything, whether we know the subject (or atleast have the minutest inkling about) or either-wise. Won't try to be a smart-ass myself but in the past history, leaving Kennedy (most of us wern't even born when he died) and Clinton, hardly any Democrat has ever been good to India. Too harsh on anyone's ears?? read this...[ http://www.rediff.com/news/2008/nov/05raman.htm]. Plus, people (and that anonymous dude) the Republican Rednecks are bloody capitalists. They support free trade and globalisation, unlike the socialist Dems, which could've meant a good business for India. And for pretty-boy Obama lets keep our black fingers crossed.
"the Republican Rednecks are bloody capitalists. They support free trade and globalisation, unlike the socialist Dems, which could've meant a good business for India"
1) Ah yes, free market capitalists. The sacred, inviolate economic truth. Socialism can be good at times, you know?
2)How do you think unrestricted "free trade" will impact our rice farmers? They don't have access to the equipment and scientific farming techniques which developed nations use to increase productivity per hectare
3) Also, socialism is not a derogatory word, nor is it synonymous with communism. It can be good at times, you know?
While agree that outsourcing might be hit, I can't imagine anyone seriously wanted McCain to win, Indian or not. Since McCain is already 72, can you imagine if Palin was president?
Most young Indians don't realise it (I didn't until a friend mentioned this), that Obama's voice bears a STRONG resemblance to that of The Rock. Now, how could I not support someone whom I idolised in the early years?
oboma vandalum seri Osama vandalum sari....every nationality is thinking abt there own positiveness.rather seeing american election in where positive..make every national as the positive asset...not obama....
What is S.U.Saravana Kumar saying?
lol
Lovely to see some 'serious debate' on Son of Bosey. Who says nobody takes me seriously? ;)
S.P.W.Smith - hahaha The Rock! Dwayne Johnson would have easily beaten Obama, considering how easily he beat Stone Cold Steve Austin, among others. Can you smell what Obama's cooking? hahahahaha
kannadigas worldwide erupted into cheers as they mistook obama for obamma
(for those of you who don't want to click on the link, obamma's this brave lady who was one of the first indians to fight the british)
Being a Hogan fan, I was very happy when McCain showed up on RAW a few months ago and said, quite seriously, "... And what're you going to do, brother, when McCain and his McCainiacs run wild on you?"
Youtube + Wikipedia + broadband = half-baked Point Peethambarams rupture thaangala mudiyile da saami.
look we get that a democratic president isn't as advantageous to the indian economy as a republican one but i think it's cool that we're willing to look beyond that to a world with less bombing of random countries and where people of all races gender and sexual orientation have equal rights. also any little interest shown by the youth [otherwise known as clueless young people] in politics is a good thing no?
p.s. as an obamania myself i now begin most of my sentences with 'look'.
In unconnected news, Aaj Tak reported that Mr Balasubramaniam of Tanjavur district spent the last 36 hours trying to get into a coconut. However, on closer examination, it was revealed that Mr Balasubramaniam is a squirrel and hence, in search of news with higher TRPs, they also shifted to talking about the Obama-mania!
Your article is abosolutely and thoroughly hilarious. Thanks for the laughs.
Pri - we never said that it's wrong for clueless young people to take an interest in politics. We just find it extremely funny!
I knew he wouldn't win. A name like Macku Kaene is not quite the type that makes people look up to him.
Obama is a nalla mama, not like the other mama - Ozama.
We resisted only Bush's push, Prakash Karat clarifies to waiting newsmen.
what's the betting obamama beats ambi mama as leading brahmin relative? :P
yo anonymous you bagged the debate...you have the bottomline...dems or reds don't matter, but sarah palin as prez??
DOOMSDAY man. don't wanna think about it... maybe mr.ramachandran should do one WHAT IF...on Palin too. Looking fwd..
haha once again the face matching is perfect. was it your find ? the similarity to Lewis Hamilton ?? Hilarious is the right word !
Tell you what you're an expert in matching faces !!
Folks. Shall we save our comments till we see the actual outcome rise out of his leadership? For the bad or good of India. The guy speaks with conviction (ok. so which politician doesnt?), made a moving speech and is NOT white... which is a breakthrough whatever said & done in the history of US politics. I mean of course there's much more to being a good leader that moving speeches, and tall promises... but everyone deserves a chance don't they...
can we stop being cynical judgemental Indians? Pls.?
I always thought Obama was Bob the builder in disguise.
Can we fix it?
Yes we can!
Anonymous - yes yes. As of now, as you requested, we shall cease to be cynical, judgemental, and Indian ;)
Don't all you guys just love how serious folks make things a lot funnier than they already are?
Lighten up, already.
i have a theory that obama won because of the large number of States-based south indians who think he is one of them.
i blogged about it here
How dare you call us clueless? Ofcourse we know why we are excited about obama. He has proven tho the world that caucasian-african mixture (unique to a billion indians) makes great leaders and wonderful advts for gopal palpodi.
"hahaha Charuhaasan is teh_pWnz00rrzz. Elder brother of Grand!"
He he, I read this and laugh, every time.
Grand for President! And Crazy Mohan for speechwriter.
Obama got 640 million dollars in campaign donations. Obama spent 564 million on his campaign. The difference is 76 million.
That's change he can believe in.
You seriously need to do some research before you publish such nonsense!!! NO KIDDING.
it's amazing how most people who want to criticize prefer to remain 'anonymous'. a riot, this lot.
anonymous - 'research'? before publishing nonsense satire? hahahahaha - you're way funnier than any of the posts on Son of Bosey!
Not to be left behind, the Pakis chime in too...Here's an excerpt from cricinfo:
"The world must get a lesson from Obama's win, which got an African-American into the White House. That proves anything is possible and Pakistan can take inspiration from that."
New Pakistan coach Intikhab Alam motivates his troops
Hello. You never interviewed me!
ZOMFG!!!!! The man himself has commented on the blog!! All please applaud for da real S.U.Saravanakumar!!
A thought - Morgan Freeman will either be inundated with offers of playing Black President of US of A. Or not. What say?
Maybe it will be a younger black president. Laurence Fishburne then.
Or Li'l Wayne.
Why? Why? Why?!
Why did take me till now to discover this hilarous blog. If I may say, you guys are absolutely great and The Onion equivalent for India. Good work, continue, and publicize your blog by submitting to desipundit!
beautiful.....this is THE best humor ive ever read......almost got killed laughing....
"Apparently, Mr.Obama's huge popularity in India stems from his nice smile, pleasant looks,"
the same goes for Rahul Gandhi in India..
Excellent blog..
