Oh, and also . . .

I've received some criticism of late that my humour style on this blog and on Cricinfo is formulaic and stupid. There may be a point there, actually. That isn't necessarily a bad thing - legendary satire magazine MAD worked with templated article formats extremely successfully for decades. And as long as I enjoy what I'm writing, I'll continue using formats and styles that have worked well for me.

But it got me thinking, and keen to explore other styles as well. Which is exactly what I'm doing with Pwnage of India, my other blog. Do pop over, read, and tell me what you think.

Thanks for reading Son of Bosey.

[Preethi] What're you talking about? Pwnage of India is a great blog. He writes as he wants to over there. And it's a little more personal than this one, in a way, because the first person creeps in every now and then.

[Anand] More power to Pwnage.

Also, why the lengthy disclaimer after the new posts?

I read Son of Bosey because I love this particular vein of humour. Please continue to enrich our lives.

Preethi - Thanks for reading. Heh - that's an old post, and I can understand why you don't dig. Especially if you're one of SRK's many fans. What is there :)

Arjun - Thanks for the support. Actually, I pretty much write as I want to here as well - the only difference is S0B follows a strictish format, pwnage does not.

The disclaimer is just a precaution - the blog is growing in popularity, and getting noticed. Without cover of obscurity, better to play safe. Politicians are on twitter, you know ;)

Well well well.. one more blog to add to my google reader courtesy of bigfatphoenix.. I'm all for more blogs which have a tint or drip in humour =)There was a time when I thought reading humour might improve my humour-sense, I've given up on that theory. Now I read just for laughs =P

Actually yes, at least the cricinfo articles were becoming formulaic, predictive. But then one has to wait until 'the' Anand Ramchandran admits it himself :]

Not the same at son of bosey though [it's hardly being updated anyway :( ]

It is difficult to write posts that are consistently humorous to everyone. The subject matter, I suppose, is one of the important determinants (I don't much like your cricket posts becos I am not interested in cricket. Reminds me of the golf stories of P.G.Wodehouse- something I used to struggle through as much as I have enjoyed reading and rereading his books:)

I also suppose Anand and his Evil Twin are two different people- I like one better than the other, won't take names though!

What makes your blog truly standout is that while your themes are local, your humour is universal, cosmopolitan, gentle yet sarcastic/dark, non judgemental- it does not belong to the clique of blogs that draw humour from the typical modern South Indian Brahmin experience:)

I don't see much of a resemblance with MAD?!

BTW..hope that appreciating your blog and P.G.Wodehouse in the same context does not make you unhappy- the MLTR,Hugh Grant parallel:))

I liked your most recent post on cricinfo. I just read it and it is currently 4:45 in the morning/night. It still made me laugh. Keep it coming.
